grey scarf

I finished all the squares I was working on for the special afghan. Daughter is edging and assembling them. (Photos later)

In the meantime, I worked on a charity scarf using Jacob's ladder technique. I used an 8, 8, 8 pattern.

Finished scarf is 6 1/2" x 62". The yarn used was Annie's Choice stormy. It's a decent yarn, though I had to cut out several knots. It's not my favorite by any means. This grey was worse than the other AC yarns I've used as far as bad sections. It seems somehow I always get the bad skeins, eh? Think they know they're coming to me?

In any case, the scarf turned out nice and I am pleased with the final result. I think it will keep someone warm.

I worked two rounds of sc to finish it off. There was a small ball left of the skein so it took close to 7 ounces using an I hook for the body and an H for the edging.

That's it. I have some grey in a different yarn and thought I'd make a hat out of that to go with the scarf.

DW Scarf and squares

I apologize for the length of my absence, but I have not been idle.

First there was Isaac. Then after getting things back to normal from that, daughter and I resumed work on the web site which entailed making, editing, uploading, and annotating more videos. If you subscribe to my YouTube channel you've seen them already. It is an interesting journey.

I wanted to show you my very special, most favorite and treasured scarf. This one is KNITTED and even more than that, it was knitted by my sweet daughter. I love it and will treasure it always. It's about 7 1/4" wide. I haven't actually measured the length yet. I'll add it here when I do. [It comes out a different measurement each time I measure it LOL. I will say it is around 92"]

The scarf above is a season 12.5 scarf which means I now have seasons 12, 12.5, 13 (just needs ends sewn), 14, and 18. I need to find an appropriate blue for the season 15 which I intend to be my next effort.

The knitted scarf has more drape and is not as heavy as the crocheted ones. I do love my crocheted ones, but this is definitely my favorite.

The colors used were chosen by me.
Purple - Vanna's Choice Burgundy
Camel - I Love This Yarn light taupe
Mustard - Bernat Gypsy Gold
Rust - I Love This Yarn Terra Cotta
Grey -Vanna's Choice Taupe
Brownish green - Bernat Waverly Bark
Bronze - Vanna's Choice Toffee

Besides all that, I've been working on squares for a special afghan which is to be a gift.

That's all for now.

If you were in the path of Isaac, I hope you did okay and have no significant damage to property or self. We have repairs to make on our fence and shed, but otherwise are back to normal.

dishcloths

While Isaac blew around us, I completed another dishcloth. That is three I've made with this pattern, all different sizes. I missed the last sc row on the yellow one but it's a dishcloth so ... I didn't bother to rip it. I sent all three off with my son as he moves to a new place. The yellow has 6 cross-overs, the blue has 7, and the peach has 8. Note that as you get wider, you also must get longer.

ch 27

ch 31

ch 35

I really like this pattern. I have tweaked the original pattern a bit, so if you saved it off, you may want to have another look at the post to see which you prefer.

I am finishing up the tails on a Season 13 Doctor Who scarf. Will post pics when it's done, of course. That will give me a scarf for Seasons 12, 13, 14, and 18. A knitted 12.5 is in progress (not by me!). A 15 is waiting on the proper blue-grey. Most of these are not wide as the original. I intend to use them. Once I get these done, I am anxious to get back to making hats and scarves for the Bridge Project and also the Visiting Nurse Services in New York needs chemo hats desperately. So much need, so little time.

I also once again hurt my back so being in any position for too long is uncomfortable. Hopefully that will clear up soon and I will feel more like doing things. I know that I am blessed as some folks have pain constantly and this is only temporary.

Isaac

Just a quick update to let you all know my family and I are fine. We have minor damages from Hurricane Isaac, but all in good health.

Power was out from Tuesday at 8:30pm to Saturday at 9:30pm.  We got Internet and cable back a few minutes ago (Monday about 10:30am). Still on limited sewerage use last I heard.

I'll post more later. Catching up on the hundreds of e-mails waiting though I did check some through my phone. Our cell service was spotty for the first few days after Isaac passed through.

dishcloth pattern

I decided to write up what I did for my dishcloth which was inspired by the hook and needle kit one. I think this one is a bit trickier to make though. The other is easier.

This cloth will be reversible because there will be edc on both sides. If you want them all on one side, then you can adjust it by holding your edc to the back instead of the front on every other row or putting a sc row in between the edc rows.

As always if you find errors, please e-mail or comment.
