squares

More squares! Taking a break from seed stitch and making squares with the yarn I have accumulated making various other projects as well as some yarn I bought over the weekend. Most of the skeins are only one skein. The squares are 6". I used my favorite cross stitch square pattern by Kate Smith.

Yarn used is Red Heart with Love Boysenberry and Pewter and Vanna's Choice Mustard, Peacock, and Sage.

I also made another cradle set for Bridget's cradles but forgot to take a picture of it. It was pink.

I still have placemats to make. I also bought some interesting yarn at Hobby Lobby I want to try. I'm thinking of making a scarf with it. It's a yarn cake called Yarn Bee Sugar Wheel in the colorway GoGo Cocoa.

Here's a review of the yarn. I haven't worked with it yet but I'll dish when I do.

pergola and snuggles

Pergola. Finis!

Finished size is about 5" x 61"

Both front and back were made with the Big Value yarn, which is a very thin yarn. I'm not sure how much I used, but I know I finished a skein and started another.

The pattern is the Pergola scarf at Knit Picks.

Also finished is another pet snuggle. The first one I made went to our local animal shelter. This one will also be headed that way once I make a few more. They seemed happy to receive it.

The size is 17" x 16". I used one strand dark blue worsted and one strand light blue fingering yarns. I chained 46 for this one.

I also finished some pink and white cross-stitch squares. I had a few pink already made, made a few more pink and some white. These will eventually be a baby afghan but I may need to make more squares first.

babyghan

For several years now I've had a partnership with Fran where she makes squares and I assemble them into a scarf and donate them to a charity of her choice.

This time, Fran's friend is having a baby so we worked together on a babyghan. Fran worked really hard to make these squares before her friend's due date. I'm happy to say we've got it done and out, hopefully to arrive in time for the new little blessing.

Note the rug underneath the ghan. It's a rug we got for my son when he was a child. I've pulled it out and put it on the floor in the grandbaby's room (for when I babysit). The kids used to enjoy playing on it and following all the roads with their toy cars.

Getting back to the ghan, the squares are made using the cross-stitch square which can be found under Kate Smith on Crochet Cabana's pattern page. This is my absolute favorite square and I've made hundreds of them. I have a video tutorial of the process at YouTube (made with permission).
