Jacob Ladder scarf

I finished the Jacob's Ladder scarf. Finished size is 6 1/2" x 76", longer than I generally make them but it looks really nice if I do say so myself. :-)

The yarn is I Love This Yarn. The body is Peacock and the edging is Peacock Ombre. I've used the ombre before and it's a beautiful yarn.

I only had to cut out one section on the Peacock, which isn't too bad given how many I've had recently.

I still have the Who S18 scarf on hook and the S12 baby afghan to assemble. I will use the excuse I've had a bad cold. Well, yes, I know that's a bad excuse. LOL It will get done eventually...

The technique used is shown in my video here.  For this particular scarf, I used the 8, 8, 8. 8 dc, 8 chains, 8 dc and a dc edging.

Happy crocheting!

  3. Hi,
I have this big question. I come from a very hot place where the temperature goes to about 45 degree C. So I cannot make the usual patterns shown with thick yarns. Because of the hot climate these yarns are not used and thus its not even available.
I wanted to know if these designs shown with thick yarns can be made with fine yarns. If yes, how can I adjust the patterns. I am a self learned crochet beginner. Please help me with this...

  4. Yes, some patterns can be made with any yarn but the finished product will not be the same size noted in the pattern. It is impossible to tell you how to adjust "any" pattern. Each one would need to be adjusted individually, according to what type of pattern it is and what size you intend it to be.

I live in an area that is warm quite a bit of the year though perhaps not as warm as that. I generally use worsted or sport yarn and keep large one piece projects to a minimum during the hot times.

Very generally speaking you would increase the foundation chain if you are working with finer yarn. This would work for a scarf or afghan but not for a sweater or other clothing that has to have a particular fit.
