About Sandie
Sandra Petit began her crochet journey during a vacation trip in July 1980 when fellow travelers Katy and Diane offered to teach her the basics. Since that time, she has worked on increasing her knowledge and expertise of the craft.
She has been a member of the Crochet Guild of America since November 1996 and has received the Crochet Guild of America’s Master of Advanced Crochet Stitches and Techniques certificate. She is also a Craft Yarn Council of America Certified Crochet Teacher.
She continues to pursue more education as the opportunity arises. Recently she completed courses at the American Crochet Association.
Crochet Cabana began as a few pages on the Internet in October, 1997. To her amazement, others found the information there useful for their own needs as well. Crochet Cabana outgrew several hosts before space was purchased at Site5 where it remained until September 2017 when we moved to WordPress. Due to health issues, the site was downsized and the blog moved back to blogger.
Sandra has personally taught crochet in a classroom setting as well as in one-to-one instruction, but the bulk of her teaching is through the Crochet Cabana tutorials, both in print and video.
She has designed a number of patterns that can be found here at Crochet Cabana.
While crocheting on her many projects, she enjoys watching television or listening to audiobooks.
Besides crocheting, Sandra is a published Christian romance author. Her work can be found in the anthologies A Time for Angels, The Bouquet, Angels for Christmas, and 8 Weddings and a Miracle. She no longer pursues fiction writing but rather concentrates on crocheting projects.
Sandra and her husband of many decades are the proud parents of two adult children and in-laws to a wonderful son-in-law. They have one sweet baby in heaven. They find much joy in being grandparents to two active little boys. A shih-tzu/bichon frise mix resides with them in southern Louisiana.
