Bijou

Off my hook ... RIP Bijou. A friend's sweet dog passed away. He was 14 years old. I made this filet piece using the Sinfonia to bring her some comfort and to have as a memory of the family pet. The yarn is actually more green than this shows.

I am still working on the filet TARDIS afghan. I made a boo-boo and had to frog some. Then I decided I wanted the "boxes" more rectangular than they were. They LOOKED rectangular on the graph, but when I got to the number of rows, not so much. Back on track now and will work on that this week while I'm doggy sitting.

X, Y stitches

A friend of mine loves horses (though she doesn't own any herself) so I made this cotton filet piece for her. I wanted to do a horse head, but I couldn't find a pattern that would be small enough for a dishcloth but still look like a real horse. This cotton yarn is nice. I bought it for something or other that never got done. It is called Sinfonia and the color is Azul Nordico.

In other news I added a couple pics to my crochet dictionary - the X stitch and the Y stitch. I actually already had a picture for one of those but I didn't like the pic and decided to replace it.

The X and Y stitches are real stitches. There is another stitch that is sometimes called the X stitch. It is where you skip a stitch, make a stitch, then work in the skipped stitch. It is actually the cross-stitch (or crossed stitch). I myself am guilty of abbreviating it to X, but I am working on that. heh

Don't know what I'm talking about? Here is the X stitch.

And here is the Y stitch.

You can find the instructions in the dictionary at Crochet Cabana and I am sure many other places too!

what's been on my hook

I can't believe it's been a week since I updated! I surely haven't stopped crocheting. Heh

Here is what I've been up to.

First I went through all my lonely skeins and decided to make squares out of them. I used daughter's cross-stitch square for all of them. It is my current favorite pattern. What I have not yet decided is what to do with said squares. LOL

Here are the bulky yarns. The off white sort of color, possibly fisherman, is Lion Brand Jiffy brushed acrylic yarn. I am not sure what the others are. Most likely they are skeins I picked up on one of my trips to Michael's or Hobby Lobby. All acrylic.

I used my Corian L hook (my favorite one) for these. And yes, I dropped it AGAIN and my husband fixed it AGAIN. I am so blessed.

These pink and blues are, I think, Bernat Softee Chunky. Don't hold me to that. I'm not absolutely positive, but I do have almost 2 skeins it looks like, in white to go with these. I see afghans in their future.

These are two dish/washcloths made with ... argh I thought I had the label here, but alas it has run off. Anyway, it is whatever they sell at Walmart because that is a recent purchase from there. :-)

I used that same cotton yarn to make filet Dalek dishcloths. Can you see the Daleks? I used part of a pattern at Ravelry called Exterminate by Elizabeth Harac. I took out just the Dalek portion.

I also found this nice variegated yarn with a complementary beige color so I made some squares out of it. The leftover bits will go to yo-yos for my daughter's project.

I also made one other thing which I can't show yet as the recipient has not received it and I made a small afghan which has already been sent off without a photo.

I have a bunch of completed small items in my bin which I need to sort through and send out somewhere.

I am slowing down on my filet phase, although having said that I am in the midst of a large project - making a filet TARDIS. LOL I'm about a quarter done on it I think. It took forever to chart. I wanted to include the words Police Box and I also wanted it not to have any sticky out edges but rather be rectangular with smooth edges. It will be all blue with the open/closed blocks making up the pattern I think, although you never know what I might decide as I get more into it. It will definitely not be as time consuming (and tail hanging) as the previous TARDIS I made.

Hope you all have been keeping your fingers busy as well.

Happy crocheting!
