beachghan

The squares I showed you a while back have been put together into an afghan.

The square pattern used is my daughter's cross-stitch square. I worked 6 rounds using the cross-stitch part of the pattern. The colors used here are Annie's Choice linen and mink brown, I Love This Yarn light peach and turquoise, Vanna's Choice rust and beige.

I chose the peach to go next to the all beige section where the name is because I thought it gave a bit of balance with the peach in the center and then one at each corner. I really liked all the colors in this ghan but particularly the peach and turquoise.

Squares were assembled using the continuous join - in the cross-stitch - with an additional round of beige, also in the cross-stitch, for edging. Yes, I really like the cross-stitch! :-)

I think the finished afghan was about 44" x 72". It fit nicely on a twin size bed.

I've done a bit more of the Season 18 Doctor Who scarf but no pictures yet. I got sidetracked making heart squares.

Happy crocheting!
Sandie

  1. The afghan looks fabulous and the cross stitch squares make it look really interesting with that bit of texture. Was there a pattern for this square anywhere ??

    1. The cross-stitch square is part of a packet sold at my Etsy and Ravelry shops. The actual square is more than just the cross-stitch. I only worked that part of it. You can see how to do that part of it in video in a post a couple days ago.

I am hoping to write up the pattern for this ghan soon which will include the alphabet I designed - just block letters.

Off topic question, you ever use the pdf converter software?

    1. Sandy, I use cutepdf I think it's called. A free pdf thing that makes my Word or Publisher documents into a pdf.

  3. Sandie not sure what's going on, this is my 3rd attempt to leave you a comment, looks like it's trying, but keeps spinning and spinning. No clue if you're getting them at the other end and will end up with 3 comments or none. Love the tourq and peach together. Have you by chance used the pdf converter software?

    1. I got this one and one other, Sandy. I do have comments set to be approved first, but don't know why it does the spinning thing. I've had that happen to me before though.
