deep V chevron

Finished the deep V chevron and I must say I am pleased with it. I enjoyed the pattern. You don't really have a lot of problems keeping the ripple in place since there is only one hill.

I decided not to carry up the unused color when working the stripes as I found it pulled the work in, so I did have those strands to weave in afterwards. It wasn't a big deal though.

Finished size is 7" x 61" using Red Heart Super Saver gold and aran (which was what I had on hand in enough yarn for a scarf), with a J hook. I chained 23 and worked a 10 dc ripple.

As you can see, there are three stripes. What do you think? Three or Two? I looked at the knitted chevron at Knit Your Bit, but there was only a partial view.  The crocheted one had two and I used two on the other pattern. I figured if you're going to have to get a full skein of yarn anyway, you'd just as soon get the use out of it. heh That's only 12 rows of the aran so you still will only use an ounce or two.

When my Wool Ease comes in, my plan is to work another one of these with the avocado and fisherman. I'm trying to decide whether to keep it as a 10dc ripple or go to possibly an 8. The Wool Ease will probably not be as wide as it's a thinner yarn, so I'm thinking to stick with 10 and use an I hook. Wool Ease wrapper says J but IMHO the yarn works quite well with an I for this purpose. For something like a sweater, where you want a lot of drape, I'd possibly go with a J. Super Saver also suggests J and it's a thicker yarn so ... Really, all crochet is personal preference. It's a toss up no matter what you choose to do.

What's up next? Well, I had a sort of idea, but not sure if I have enough yarn to follow through with it. You'll be the first to know. Well, the second. I'd obviously be the first. heh

Can you believe that we are already almost finished four months of 2011? Is it just me or does time seem to fly by faster as I get older?

Happy crocheting!

  2. I like 3, tend to almost always prefer odd numbered things. Great colors.

  3. Different number and orientation of the chevrons have meaning to military folks, to my understanding. But I am not all that familiar with what they mean.
