bulky scarf

This scarf was created using Loops and Thread Charisma Lakeside variegated yarn.  This is a bulky yarn (#5). I really like this yarn even with several knots I had to cut out. :-) It worked up nice and soft. I wouldn't mind having it myself, but I promise I won't keep it. LOL

The recommended hook size is an L but I used a K and it worked quite well.

Finished size is approximately 6" x 71".

babyghan

For several years now I've had a partnership with Fran where she makes squares and I assemble them into a scarf and donate them to a charity of her choice.

This time, Fran's friend is having a baby so we worked together on a babyghan. Fran worked really hard to make these squares before her friend's due date. I'm happy to say we've got it done and out, hopefully to arrive in time for the new little blessing.

Note the rug underneath the ghan. It's a rug we got for my son when he was a child. I've pulled it out and put it on the floor in the grandbaby's room (for when I babysit). The kids used to enjoy playing on it and following all the roads with their toy cars.

Getting back to the ghan, the squares are made using the cross-stitch square which can be found under Kate Smith on Crochet Cabana's pattern page. This is my absolute favorite square and I've made hundreds of them. I have a video tutorial of the process at YouTube (made with permission).

hats

For a change, hats instead of scarves. I've used the remaining Lion Brand Jiffy for hats to go along with the scarves. Okay, there is no grape scarf, but I added a bit of the paprika and chili to the grape to give a match. :-)

The first is an adult smallish hat. The second is an adult large hat.

All that remains of the Jiffy now is a bag of small balls. Moving on to the next project now. What will that be? I don't know yet. LOL

scarves

I'm still working away on my stash. I found some Lion Brand Jiffy. This is yarn I'd purchased for a Season 18 Doctor Who scarf but decided to use the Suede I was able to get instead.

The Bridge Project gets the benefit of this yarn purchase.

The finished size is 7 1/2" x 72". Yarn is Lion Brand Jiffy chili and paprika.

I am hoping I can get another scarf out of the leftover, but it will be tight. To finish the edging on one of the scarves I had to frog the short section I'd already done on the Who scarf. Jiffy is not an easy frog, but it worked out okay and the yarn was good to go.

The pattern is straight dc. I chained 22.

That's it! Back to my hook.

scarves

Two scarves finished this weekend.

The first is 7 1/2" x 72". I used a chain of 210 and an H hook. The colors are Bernat Waverly bark, Vanna's Choice rust and burgundy, and a cream that didn't have a label.

This one is 7" x 60 1/2". I used the rest of the burgundy and some of the same cream yarn. It's shorter because I was afraid to run out since I needed the same pattern on both ends.

I continue to work through my yarn stash. I have gone through my bins and found some miscellaneous items - squares of different sizes in particular. If anyone reading this knows of a recognized charity effort which could use these, holler out to me and I'll consider it. I know some efforts ask for a particular size and I'd like to send it all to one person if possible though I'm open to divvying it up. Tails are dangling on many of these. Some long enough for assembly if needed.

Here's a picture of some of what I have found. There are 2 of the bright yellow single crochet pieces and the one next to the yellow is purple with I think popcorns if I remember right. There are two pink ribbon squares. The small pink squares are 5 rounds. They are not all from the same yarn though many are.

That's all for now. Have a great week!
