Thank you for troop hats

I received a Thank You letter for the hats that many of you contributed at the end of last year to the La. deployed troop. I thought I'd share it here.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the crocheted caps made for us out of love and care. The support shown and the caps are deeply appreciated by all of us and the 769th deployed La. unit. May God continue to bless you all always and abundantly and keep you in His tender mercies." 769th La. Deployed Unit, VFW Post 3750 Ladies Auxillary, Donna Guice, Care Package Coordinator

chain link square

I received an e-mail, as I often do, letting me know when the YouTube channels to which I subscribe have added new videos. Sometimes I go have a look, and sometimes I don't have time to do it right then, but I save the e-mail to look at later.

One such new video was Beth Ham's chain linked diamonds square. (You can find the text pattern here.) It intrigued me so much that this morning I sat down and crocheted with Beth. I very rarely take the time to do that so you know I loved this square.

I followed her video step by step, even the repeats. What a lovely square! Hers was 6" but mine is closer to 7". One reason is that I brought my long dc up too high I think as it leaves a hole rather than sits close to the previous row. That's okay though - I *meant* to do that. *rolling eyes and looking away*. In any case, it was very easy to follow but you do have to pay attention. It's not one of those things you can do while watching Doctor Who for example. Because both things are too important! LOL

I added a single crochet edging around and here's the result.

In addition to that dishcloth, I also finished another one with this bright variegated yarn.

I'm getting antsy to start another Doctor Who scarf so I'm sure you'll be seeing that starting again soon. Every time I think I can start something seems to come up but soon...

more dishcloths

I have made a couple more dishcloths to make an even dozen for this first send off.

The first is really an oopsie. I meant to do a checkered pattern, but my mind wasn't on what I was doing and I ended up working 4 stitches of pink and then 4 of white and so on. I shortly realized what I was doing, but I liked it so I continued. :-) The green, yellow, and blue variegated is plain dc. Then the last photo is a shot of the dozen made.

Finished with that, I picked up the filet Dalek and made one of those using Knit Pick Comfy Whisker pima cotton/acrylic worsted. He is 8 1/4" x 11".

I see Dalek amigurumi all the time, but not being one to do amigurumi I am thinking I'd like to try this with perhaps puff or bobbles. We'll see if I get up the courage/desire to do that.

I also got a new Hook & Needle Club kit in but haven't had time to look at it yet.
